Think Crazy is right. Not only does it sell coins to the sheeples but books too. I just find um then put them away. All in the same 2X2 box as the other clashes no numbers needed to make me happy.
Oh yea almost forgot good eye on the find to bad it's a bit on the un-attractive side. Keep it up and you'll find nicer examples for your collection.

Not hijacking - just showing dies can move when clashed. Your 3rd bay looks like my 4rth bay I found on a 1985 cent.

Indeed it does. Just wish I could picture the clash angle. Gave up two headaches ago

They're assigning variety numbers to clashes?

Why are clashes not Mint errors but now varieties? Just to play the money game? I read somewhere before sombodey wrote they can retire on all the clashes and minor verities they have - Do they have like 2 Million of them?

On Mark's coin it looks like this issue is not a rotation of the dies, but the dies moving side to side during the clash.

The VAM guys don't seem to mind clashes when they find a stray E on the reverse of a Morgan and the 57 Flying Eagle had a few interesting run ins with the wrong kind of dies.
If there is something that keeps the new blood excited and fills the gaps between the all to seldom significant finds then I think it's great.
If clashes can help searchers understand some part of the minting process then give them a number for encouragement then that's great too.
After almost thirty years of cherry picking and more than a few significant finds I still get a thrill writing a number on a simple clash. That's just me.

I like having means of attributing different varieties. Helps satisfy my OCD tendencies. 100 years from now, they may be VAMming Lincolns!

Won't take that long if sombodey thinks they can make money by writing a book on that!
They already have Spike heads - might as well call them Lincoln VAMs and start numbering them, print a book, and have the TPG's printing the info on their labels for an extra fee!

I'm sure there are a few people on CCF that could make a good start on that book, Mark.

I think someone should as the Lincoln varieties seem to be getting extremely collectible - there seem to be alot of Cent roll searchers out there including me cause it's a very inexpensive hobby but can yield good money! Cut me in for 3% for mentioning the idea

That's the reason I search Lincoln cents most of the time. And it's fun! Sometimes, people will just search for the Wheat cents and anything that's pre 1982. That gives us a better chance at finding errors or varieties.

Lately I've been averaging ONE (common) Wheat cent for every 2 rolls - Varieties and errors are much more profitable and fun to find!

I agree with you on that Mark. Errors and varieties are better and fun to find. Then you can profit off of it if you wanted to list it on ebay. When you coin roll hunt, it's like a never ending adventure and you don't really know what you'll find since it's random.
