Thank you for the info SPP.... I can only hope I get such good odds. Just dumped the bucket on the table early this afternoon and started to sort by date first. 4.5 hrs later I just finished that daunting task! Now to go over them one by one.
Is there any variety known for the 1970 "manitoba" dollar.... While I was coaching I collected a tonne of them to give out as a "token" to the other coaches from other provinces and such at the western canada games, canada games and NAIG...
With so many of them it would be nice to sit down with those and look for a known variety, but perhaps I may have to strain the ole specks and see if I can't find something a little different myself...
Any other assistance you have with nickle dollars would be appreciated.. .Monday I will be starting with 1968!

Quote: Great, I found a no island a couple of weeks ago. Not great at grading but around a Fine to XF. For 1978, the lower waterlines have to be shortened, otherwise it is a small island...

Quote: Monday I will be starting... If you find any "lowballs" or pocket pieces in that hoard... send me a PM. I'll make you a trade worth your while if it is a year I don't have!! This is an example (my 1983):

That's a small island... the no island has the waterlines well disconnected from the bow (and stern) of the canoe...
grade looks AU on that one...

Last night I invited one of my friends over and immediately we started to look at the '74's for double yolks. Didn't find any in this batch but did manage to find two with what I think are identical die clashes and one with a D/C going almost all around the beads.
SPP most of the material is probably EF-AU with a few 62's or 63's I don't think anything would grade up to 66. You said you were missing some lowball pieces ... send me a PM of which years you need. I would be happy to put one or two into my pocket for ya! Send them your way in about a year or so...

Thanks SSP
Your example of no island above also only had one upper water line, is that typical?

Nickle dollar lowballs, now that is tough. What years you still need SPP? I've got a silver dollar lowball collection, but not going to touch nickle dollars.

#14 Double yoke is the scarcest of the Double Yoke series. I'v been looking for one since it got attributed by Ken Potters web page.

This is the #14 I'm looking for. I searched a few hay stacks but there was no needle in it.

okay we're talking the same thing... I don't consider this a "double yolk" b/c it has nothing to do with the yolk on the ox cart. But I get what you're saying...
Well I am now really stoked for Monday.... I found my 2013 charlton guide... I have "most" of the coins already sorted by date, although I just found another bucket of nickel dollars to go through as well...
Ohh side question.. has there ever been a back issue on nickel 50 cent pieces?

Only varieties covered in the Charlton Catalogues for the 50 cents were in 2007 and 2014 and were both on silver coins
