Crazyb0: You never leave home without what? I definitely don't want to fall into buying something that isn't true and real. But there are a few things I know I will end up probably having to purchase vs finding. I know to stay away from the Bradford and things of that nature. But someone else out there will probably think its cool and boom.....

Freeqgirl, a weapon. I attempted twice to sell bulk Wheat cents on Craplist, first was a no show, second was an attempted robbery, stress attempted, dude decided to walk away with his most precious parts intact. At least he was reasonable...

Oh wow!! Yeah, CL is sketchy at best. I thankfully have never had an issue, but I don't mess around either. Someone was selling an iPad, I asked a lot of questions and when I asked the "golden question" of , find a charger and boot it up.....I never got a response back. LOL! Glad you came out okay from that.

99.9% of coins found within these type of displays are worth face value. They are marketing gimmicks.

@BadThad is 100% correct.
Mostly cleaned, damaged coins "polished up" to look pretty and nearly worthless.

Buy from folks selling here and it's virtually impossible to get taken. Anyone who uses this forum values the knowledge gained. We have people selling some great items right now.
And, no, that's not self promotion since I have nothing listed for sale.

I have bought silver off of CL a couple of times in the Tampa area. The last was about 3 yrs ago, when someone was selling a complete set of Silver Eagles, 1986-2006. I picked up the set at just below spot. That time and each of the ones before (except 1) I always kind of felt like the people I was buying it from weren't the actual owners, or didn't completely understand what they had. I didn't take advantage of them, but I did feel like they potentially had acquired the stuff they were selling by suspicious means at best, and I decided to stop buying from CL for that reason.
I always met them at a parking lot like the mall or Best Buy - somewhere I knew had cameras and lots of people. So if you're buying off of CL - I strongly do suggest that at least.

Always good advice. I don't meet anyone at their homes or anything like that. But I don't think I'll be going the route of CL for coinage either. I was just curious and seen that.

I recently met a retired police officer and he highly recommended me to meet people you are about to buy valuables from at the sheriff's office. It's not only allowed - it's officially recommended.
For instance, divorced couples are also using sheriff's office for exchanging kids.
It's very safe and criminals will immediately pass the opportunity to sell with you.

Fabulous idea!!! #10084;#65039; I have heard of that as well. I don't buy stuff from people very often but the last two people I met was at a large medical center for a rock tumbler which I was able to plug it in to ensure it worked and then at a Holiday Inn parking lot, cameras and right in town. I try to make it a safe location for everyone. I did buy a cell phone once and met the person at the AT&T store so they could make sure it was a legit buy. The lady was very happy to do so for me too.
