I vote legitimate. Usually, Chinese counterfeits will be in better condition.

Thank you for replying and your comments. My mom revently passed, was a collector/coin hoarder for 60yrs. Asked me to go though her coins for my dads benefit. She taught me when I was a child and I'm reducating myself to do so, She'd be smiling..., thanks again.

I'm so glad you found a real goodie. Meets all the needs of a legitimate 22 no D. Congratulations.

I'd vote for NGC or PCGS. But wait until you have a number of coins to send at one time and it's cheaper per coin.

Thank you very much. Keeps me connected to my Mom. Could I ask your thoughts on the grading options. I've not had any coin slabbed yet but have saved a few in order to do so. It seems to PCGS obtains higher valuations upon resale on standard coins but that NGC maybe more commonly used for varieties. Do any of you have suggestions in this case?

For this one, I'd recommend PCGS. Just my opinion.

I would recommend ANACS to grade this error coin.

The expense of the other two grading services will not make this coin worth any more at this grade level.

Anybody can submit to ANACS as well - do not have to be a club member.

No grading special occurring at the moment, but check their website.

tryingmybest - take your time in your research. Rely on the members of this site for ANY info, questions, and guidance - several have walked in the same shoes as you - sorry to see the passing of your mom.

Looks legit to me.

Quote:
Die pair number 2 was the result of a normal set of dies that clashed together causing the reverse die to be damaged so badly that it had to be replaced and the obverse die was polished so much that the mint mark was buffed away. Cents from this die have a worn, polished obverse and a strong reverse with no trace of a mint mark, this is the most sought after of all the 1922 no D cents. http://www.Lincolncentsonline.com/1...20Cents.html
