Thanks, pan4au, cabowabo, mcshilling, and Lionel90! Definitely a fun find! And pan4au, funny reference - by the way, they prefer Walking Liberty halves for dates. *UPDATE* 7 more dates revealed today... nothing too special: 1914, 1916 (2), 1918, 1919 (2), 1920

Progress indeed! Well, as per usual, the 3rd and 4th day of pickling provided all kinds of results... and two of them are better dates a 1915-D and a 1917-S! The rest of the coins revealed yesterday and today: 1915, 1916 (3), 1917 (3), 1917-D, 1918 (5), 1918-D, 1919 (2), 1920 (2), 1923, 1924, 1925 (2), 1925-S, 1926, 1926-D, 1927, 1928, 1934 (first post-1929 Buffalo found pickling)... Five coins are hole fillers in my CRH Buffalo album: 1915-D, 1917-D, 1925-S, 1926-D, and, believe it or not, 1928.

I have found six dateless buffalos in the last few boxes and all are now soaking in white vinegar.

Would someone(s) mind opining on the virtues of pickling (white vinegar) versus acid raising. Does pickling damage the coin at all or should I say damage it less than acid raising?

White vinegar is an acid, it does the same thing, so really no difference other than strength and the relative time required.

Herbaby, I use a 50/50 mixmof apple cider vinegar and hydrogen perioxide. When using this the WHOLE coin is affected. In a Nic-a-date3(sulfuric/nitric acid) it is applied ONLY to date. I think it just makes the coin quite ugly to be half-baked. The vinegar mix takes all the surface evenly, giving a noticeably altered coin but a little better to look at. I don't like nic-a date at all!

*UPDATE*
As per usual, the rate of reveals slows with time... all but 38 of them are now revealed. The latest new ones are: 1916 (5), 1916-S, 1917 (3), 1917-S, 1919, 1921 (a hole filler!), 1924, and 1925.
Also of note, I neglected to mention that one of the coins has a good sized clip - a 1913 Type 1.

This time of year is always busy for me - fantasy baseball drafts and a couple of family birthdays, so am only now updating this... All but 10 coins have been revealed now... the date reveals for the past two weeks: 1913 T-1 (yes, I missed another one)... 1913 T-2 (3), 1914 (2), 1915 (2), 1916, 1917 (2), 1919 (7), 1920 (2), 1921, 1923, 1925 (3), 1926 (2), 1928. Also, of note... I am fairly certain my silver half find from yesterday came from the same hoard... http://goccf.com/t/22710&whichpage=1592#2684841
