It is a Russian 10 Roubles (KM#64) - composition .900 gold - weight 8.6026g - .2489 oz average gold weight. Values given in Krause 2nd edition $120.00 (XF) and $170.00 (UNC).
Given the history behind Nickolas II, I find this coin to have a lot of collector and intrinsic value. Have you ever read the history behind his reign and his murder. He was the last Czar of Russia and was murdered in 1917 along with his entire family.

Susan I guess you explained the coin in my link. I just used it to compare with the one jdheyne asked about.
To be honest I haven't heard about Nikolai the Second, but if he's murdered in 1917, the reason for his murder is probably the Bolschevic Revolution of Lenin and his "comrades".
I have a similar coin, but Silver with a date of 1899, one of my favourites:)

Susanlynn, Do you have any info I can view on this coin online? I find it really hard to believe it is gold... no offense. There is really no goldish tint to the coin. The side that is not in silver color is like a pinkish orange and appears to be wearing off. Thanks for the help! Jordan

Edit: So you are not saying this coin is gold, correct? After reading reply before this one, you were explaining the coin in the link?

I guess I lead to a mixup. Susan referred to the coin showed in the link I gave. Yours is probably not gold, but Russian. ;)

I see... Any ideas on the two different colors?

My idea is that it is some kind of Copper alloy as base metal and silver or tin coating. The coating of reverse is worn off.

So it would probably be how it was minted and not modified by someone else, correct?

The coin is nickel so the redness is post-mint, most likely either being plated or painted by someone.

I think so.(not modified)
But that's my opinion at first sight. We have real experts here, I say wait for their comment.

Sorry about the confusion. I explained the coin in the link since the answer had already been given on the original coin.

I hate to be difficult. I still think it is Austrian. The eagle looks slighly different to the russian one.

The original coin is Austrian. The coin pictured in the link is Russian.

OK... so it is an Austrian coin that really isn't worth anything... right?

Sorry, my mistake. Now I see the little difference. The emblem on the eagle's chest is not the same.
