Not sure where you got 1916 from, spruett. The 2 is the clearest digit in the date. But I think you may be right about the last digit being a 6. I took some pictures with a microscope, hopefully they help. The dateless ones are still dateless in my eyes, I can't make anything out. From top left to bottom right in my original post:

Here's a pic of the FG, Earle. Excuse any glare, it's in a 2x2 now

Sorry. That was unintentional. I corrected my statement above to reflect what I wanted to say.

That's okay I figured it's what you meant The 1917 you could be right about though. The other one is for sure too corroded

I'm beyond stoked to finally have some of my own Buffaloes!

A good start to what hopefully is a long association with this series!

Nice find . The 70-D Half is the best one in the 40% series . The Buffaloes just might spark an interest for you in those Nickels .

What is nice about those dateless Nickels is you can add your own dates on them with a felt tip marker.

Clearly a Straight G with that new pic. Must have been glare that makes it look flared in the first pic.

They've actually been my second favorite coin, and nickels being my overall favorite denomination. It's just the start of hopefully a big collection in the years to come

Yes they're still usable. I think all our coins through history are still usable as currency aside from Gold coins and maybe Large Cents.

Edit: And Half Cent, Two Cent, Three Cent, and Twenty Cent Pieces and Half Dimes I'm sure can't be used anymore.

Nice!
I agree with spruett, the upper left is a 1917.
