They will stick to a magnet if they are not coin blanks.

Just put a magnet on it and you will see if it is steel or not. That is the quickest test.

I'm looking at the rim. Do planchets have a pre-formed rim? Are any of the edges sharp? A Whole saw cut maybe into a low temp metal maybe?

I apologize for not posting sooner everyone.they are all 21. mm and they weigh in grams (3) weigh 5.1, (2) weigh 5.3 and the last (3) weigh 5.6. I calibrated my scale several times with proper cal weights. Oh and as fair as magnets this is where it gets weird if I lay them down and get a magnet and hold it above them about 1/4 above them nothing, but when I lay magnet on them you can feel they hold on to magnet but once I pick up the magnet they don't stay attached. Ok now three didn't react at all dumb founded. I turn the three over on the other side and the react like the rest did the first time. Ready for weird part, so now I flip all eight to the other side put the magnet on them no reaction at all to magnet. So only one side reacts to the magnet... I never had that happen before so I'm lost.
Rest in Peace

They are not nickels then. Reacting to the magnet means they aren't

Type 1 and Type 2 blank planchets show up all the time for every coin series. Can you provide a photo of these items with some other nickels? Perhaps seeing them next to actual coins will help to solve this mystery.

The images are on page 1. I bet he tried the magnet and it worked and he didn't want to come back.
