Buy the coin, not the holder. No matter the reputation of the company. Remember the following , according to the marketrs of the company, was graded by three separate, trained graders. The PCGS website even says they match up the coins with graders who know the series better.

ICG is considered somewhat reliable BUT should only be bought sight-seen.

All TPGS's are made up of people. People are not perfect. In fact it is people that mess things up with grading systems. As noted already, buy the coin, not the slab.

I appreciate the TPG's opinion, but it is still an opinion no matter how objective the grader tries to be. Ultimately it is your opinion that matters when you make a purchase.

I love building my PCGS graded Ike set, but there is a reason why I have not finished it yet. Finding affordable Ikes where my opinion of the coin matches the grade on the label is not that easy.

ICG is a legitimate company. That said PCGS and NGC are kings for a reason. They're just as good and really better than ANACS is, but most things worth submitting are worth submitting to PCGS or at the very least NGC.

And just like ANACS, I am not a fan of their holder.

In my opinion PCGS has the best holder and NGC second. The others I would only buy if I needed the coin for my Dansco.

I prefer ANACS over ICG, at least their holder doesn't look like an egg.

ICG is lost in the fog of second-tier graders, along with ANACS, for different reasons. Neither has built a solid reputation of consistency. If you have a coin or note of significant value, don't send it to either.

Completely agree about PCGS, I don't think any of them actually come close at this point. It's the clearest and the best protection.

Aside from the white prongs, the NGC holder annoys me that they try and up-charge to be scratch resistant when that should be standard at this point like it is with PCGS.

The others definitely can be very good album coin sources

ANACS is the only holder I can consistently open up with my hands. They're the worst holder by far for the ebay TPGs imo

Wow, did not know that. Seriously, that should not be optional.

I believe it. I have not tried to open one yet, but I have handled a few. A proof set lens feels more secure.

If you use the express tier or high you get the scratch resistant holder "free". Any lower tiers it's an extra $5 per coin.

It should be their standard holder, but their insistence of trying to charge for it is penny wise and dollar foolish in my opinion.

Some of the proof set ones probably are. If you can get into the seem on the back of the ANACS slabs you can usually just pull the entire back off no problem

Nice! I will remember that if/when I get one to fill a Dansco hole.

The easier it is for me, the better. I have already accepted that I will have to fill those last holes with slabbed coins. Finding them raw is difficult on so many levels.
