Thanks for the FYI because from the images I found online it appears there are reverses without the prominent die chip between column 1 & 2. (This die difference is a little odd as only 22-25 sets are known. Couldn't have been many dies made.)

There are some similarities between your coin and the SMS coins but also enough differences that I think will keep it from being attributed as one.
Your first set of comparison images do have concentric die scratches around column 4 as well as the steps east of the left planter in both images. his would definitely make me wonder if the mint reused the dies.

One of the biggest difference I see is that yours does not have the squared off rims that is evident on the SMS coins. On your coin they appear rounded from the rim gutter on the die.

Literally exact die polish marks on the obverse as well. Read my description with the last set of pics. Literally in the same locations as heritage's coin. Exact locations along the protrait, below the date, within the date, just off the nose and all over the Fields. Look at the specific die marks just off the nose. LITERALLY the same marks in the same locations

I don't think the reverse had a die chip on the 2nd bay. I think in the image it is a piece of them that was moved from the lower left base area?

Mine has the exact die markers. Look at the marker by the nose and under the date. Same ones on my coin

I'll admit the die markers are very similar. But the rims aren't as squared as you'd expect a SMS coin to be. And couldn't these lathe lines come up on multiple dies? Like how there are numerous 1996-D obverse dies with lathe lines in the same spot.

See if you can match EXACT die scratches on the obverse. Look for the exact same location, shape, size, length, direction.

If you can find exact matches, please to try to take pics and make a side-by-side to compare.

Sorry it is frustrating because we're not trying to rain on your parade. We are just trying to give honest feedback and opinions. I am glad you took the time to share the images and perked my interest to look into this variety. I'm still a novice but enjoy the challenge of learning. Thank you.

The answer to your original question about whether the mint reused the dies might be yes but the squared off rims seem to be a big part of an attribution by a TPG.
Yours definitely have some similarities to some of the images online. But some differences as well.
(The heavy die polishing lines at the bust and field under the 9 of the date for example don't seem to be on your example)

(Interesting note about the images at Heritage for this variety is how weak the details are for the top of the coat lapel. The lapel almost disappears into the shoulder detail.)
