If it grades RB, anything over 65 would be top pop at PCGS in that category, unless I'm reading it wrong. NGC shows 4 in 66. Not sure how that ding in the nose affects the grade but I'd give it at least 65+. Looking at a few 65's on Heritage they all have more marks.

65 or 66 is a good score. I really admire this penny.

@joeturbo knows his early wheats as we have seen time and again over the last few months. No doubt in my mind that this coin is sensational in hand.

Joe - Appears that the coin is actually full brown and your light is cutting through the patina. Suggest moving the camera back and getting the coin a bit farther away from the light source. I know you want to show the colors under the brown but the result makes it difficult for most of us to judge. Your goal is to reproduce how it looks to the naked eye first and then use those other pictures to supplement those.

I've posted this example many times. It shows just how much a difference simple light and camera angle can make.

Exactly what I see in hand:

What I see when I tilt it under light. I've posted just this second picture many times and 90% of people call it cleaned. Then, evil me, I post the first picture to prove it's all in the light/camera. The only software manipulation EVER to my pictures are a resize.

it would be nice to see the reverse like the second photo you posted just to see the color. the obverse looks boarder line RB with about 10-15% red which is enough for an RB designation however the reverse needs to show at least that amount. MS65 low end MS67 high end. I'm going to split it and say MS66. color could go either way but because of the original reverse photo I have to go with BN. still a beautiful coin with a great beard!

You all are killing me lol..... ok I'm about to do a full on photo shoot here...... knowing what I paid for this coin I'd be happy if it hit a 62..... throwing these 65,66 and 67 numbers out there is making me a little more than slightly excited haha. Standby!

Ok.... here it is all taken in natural lighting.... there is toning on the coin and in hand I would say my eye sees what the first few photos capture.

New photos change my mind about the artificial surfaces, I think it would straight grade, maybe at 66

new pics of the coin really help. I was originally at MS66BN. I think this coin is MS66RB and could push 67. the only flaw I can see is the tiny nick on the nose. this coin must be graded and slabbed. this is a beautiful coin and could rank up there with best examples. the stike of the hair and beard is better than all the photograde examples at this level. geez, nice pickup

repost after slabbing please

I've seen coins like that come back QT. The overall color is just off for me. 64BN and not sure it will pass a TPG color test....just MHO.
