This should end any question about the note's authenticity. Quote:Thanks for the e-mail. I'm attaching a link to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing which explains the various US dollar denominations. http://www.treas.gov/education/faq/...ons.shtml#q2 As you will see from the above link the $100,000 note was never in circulation to the general public, it was only used between the Reserve Banks. In addition all $100,000 notes have been accounted for. Robert Amenta Special Investigator Federal Reserve Bank of New York

wow, well I think ebay would have a trace of the IP Address of the user who posted that auction up... I couldnt imagine that they wouldn't trace ip's of their users

I couldnt imagine that they wouldn't trace ip's of their users They can, but they are tremendously unreliable. For example, some AOL users IPA's change with every new page they visit. At any given time there are hundreds of thousands of AOL users with the same exact IPA. Also, IPAs they can be easily cloaked or spoofed.

I reported to ebay anyway... maybe they'll do something. The seller is obviously fishing for the one sucker that will be greedy enough to blindly buy the bill. It'll happen sooner or later. You see news reports of folks that fell for email schemes where someone in a third world country sends them a note saying the recipient just inherited a fortune. All you have to do to get your money is send us a couple thousand bux! They send the money blindly, expecting a huge payoff, then go to some news program like 20/20 when it doesn't happen! I would be ashamed to show my face! These folks thought they were going to clean up and possibly victimize someone else, but they were taken to the cleaners because greed blinded them. I would say they deserve what they get, but in a case where you can actually identify, and maybe even catch, one of the scammers... I think they definitely need to be stopped/caught. My opinion. Dave

And last I heard there is one on display at the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank. That is the only one that is displayed. The rest have either been burned, or their on the black market

Nah, I saw a stack of them at a coin convention at the Baltimore Convention Center one year.
They were in a very large glass case that looked probably an inch thick! I do remember they were loaned to the convention by the Fed.
