I only have five 2x2's so I take the time to type out just the name of the coin such as (1917 Mercury dime) and then I cut it out and glue it to the top of the 2x2 away from the plastic and everything.

Its very time consuming, but it gives me something to do, and I think it looks very nice.

I hear you there. I consider myself to have a mild amount of OCD. For some reason, I do this to all of my 2X2's which includes date, type, and grade. It takes literally forever but I enjoy how it looks once I am done with it.

I bought these-http://www.jakesmp.com/CSD_Flips/CSD_flips_inserts_03_M.html then down loaded a excel
spreadsheet somewhere (can not remember where). The only thing is I bought them a year ago and they are
still in the original shipping package never opened, someday I will get to labeling all of my stuff.

I do not write on 2x2s. Even when I buy a coin in a 2x2 and there's something written on it I *must* replace it with a clean one.

Holy crap I thought I was the only one :P

I'm with jbuck on this one. An ultra-fine point Sharpie is the only way to go.

I'd say my labelling system is as incoherent as my collection. Coins from every country, varying millenia, current and defunct countries are imitated in the black, red, blue and green ballpoint pen, the purple, orange, green, black, blue, magenta, and pink felt tipped pens that label the different kinds of 2x2s. (Tabbed, not tabbed, thick, thin, older and new.)

The -only- thing that must remain the same is the labelling schematic, which is as illustrated.

Of course, special notes can mean anything at all, like KM or Y number, Monarch, mintage, who was the source of acquisition, day of the week, etc.

My desk, and my 'storage facility.' I have several albums full of 2x2s on the shelf that is almost visible to the right. I have a couple boxes full of 2x2s that I haven't sorted out yet. Each red box is a row of 2x2s, and most of the boxes are full. The black boxes are the triple row kind, for Britain and Canada. They're mostly full. I keep most of my coins in 2x2s- there are just a rare few valuable enough or sentimental enough that I keep them in airtites. I don't deal with slabbed coins.

WOW, Elle, now that is what I'd call organized. Love the pirate, my sis-in-law and her (new, LOL) husband are modern day pirates and attend conventions all over the USA.

Take Care

I have 9 of those long, red, two row cardboard boxes full of 2x2's. Also, a few 3 ringed binders with those plastic sheets that hold 20 of the 2x2's. I use a #2 or HB Lead Pencil to lable anything on those. The reason is I'm basically cheap and reuse most 2x2's several times so erasing the information is important. When I purchase a coin in a 2x2 and if the labling is in any kind of ink, I use white out to get rid of that so I can reuse the 2x2. Many of my 2x2's have been used at least 10 times or more so being a cheap person, I'll reuse them until they fall apart.
