Hi All,

Don't count it out so fast:-) I often see minor things that might be overlooked. I added an arrow to the lower left of my cropped version of the picture. It points at what appears to be reasonable notch on the lower portion of the 7.
Although, the mint mark and the other letters are exhibiting a lot of Machine Doubling damage. This one may be a minor DDO or even a known TDO. This one is similar to 1970-S PF DDO, 7-0-1 (new FS number).

If you look at the picture really closely you can see another slight groove along the top of the 7 above the groove pointed out by the arrow. I would like to see a nice picture of LIBERTY

Thanks,
Bill

PS: I know....you all think I'm nuts but I see what's there:-)

Seeing things that ain't there, thats nuts Bill. No call to the X-Files this time. Saw the obvious, discarded the rest. Where can I get a pair of glasses like yours? Good eye.

Looking at and describing this stuff is one of my main interests. After you've seen a coupla thousand:-) you know what to look for. In this case, I knew where to look. I could also see that the digits were shaped a little out of the norm on this one. I also have to give credit to the excellent photograph that was posted.

When I really start seeing things that aren't there, I'll pack it in:-) and take all my marbles home:-)

You can do it with Photoshop. I also use Photo Plus, another picture processing program.

I have four programs that I use and each has a way to add arrows.

I will get a photo of the Liberty up a little later tonight after I get back from my gym stuff. Bill, most of us are nuts, just very few admit it :)

Daviscfad,

As far as the arrows, it is part of my Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 , which means version 12. I have both photoshop and it , and I like it a little better, but most of the photo programs can do arrows.

Now that you point it out, I see the notch on the 7.
Nice toning on this coin!

Here is another photo trying to enhance the bottom of the 7.
It's been fun. I am not sure if it is a notch or part of mechanical. Glad to listen
to those with more experience and knowledge.

Your coin suffers from common Machine Doubling. All of the areas you show are Machine Doubling.

Excellent photos - wish mine were that good
Also the discussion was quite intriguing as well.
I am not an collector of cents - so I was just trying to gain some info - hopefully some will be retained
As for the arrows - Photoshop and Corel are great programs but expensive. Gimp might do the trick for you as well and a lot cheaper -FREE.

Thanks for all of the input! My knowledge and instinct to look so much more closely
rather than assume has improved a lot. Wwhitman, I have used gimp in the past on my linux, I was quite
impressed with it. I tried the first Win versions and it was very "iffy" at the time,
but have heard it is much better today. Folks, I do appreciate the help. Now, just
yesterday I found a 1917 Lincoln with rather large numbers...
