Quote: If you think the TDO is neat, keep an eye out for the Quadrupled die obverse on the same date! It's listed as WDDO-005 FS-105:

How about these two cool Morgan dollar VAMS? the 1888-O DDO Hotlips and the 1901 DDR Shifted Eagle. Hot lips due to the fact Ms. Liberty has two sets of lips, a TOP 100 VAM variety. I just sold this VAM3 after getting it in an ANCS holder, found in a junk bucket of silver dollars. Sold for way too cheap unfortunately, the perils of selling at auction. Doubling very obvious at the bottom of the eagles tail feathers. It brought under $40.00 when it should have got around $75-100+ IMO. Even though it was cleaned. Oh well, you win some and lose some.

This is a '40 QDR 5c. Not my pic, but I've cherried 2 of the bay. Generally they're misidentified.

flb0311 to the CCF, glad to have you around, keep hunting, and look at as many coins as you can ( ebay or in person). You'll find some eventually, it happens to be one of the most fun parts of collecting IMO, making that elusive score and using your knowledge over other collectors to beat them to the punch, and sometimes it can pay off big time. I've personally sold 2 Morgan dollars I've cherry picked for under $8.00 and flipped them each for over $1000, doesn't happen often, but it can and will if you work hard at it.

Here's a 1946-P DDR WLH I found on ebay last year. They are easy to spot (look at E Pluribus Unum), and it's still possible to cherrypick circulated examples on ebay.

Also as a numismatic book collector it should be noted, get yourself copies of the 2 volume Cherrypicker's guides (vols. 1 & 2) or at least the first edition single volume book. The price guides may be out of sync with the market today, but the coins themselves don't change. Bill Fivaz and JT Stanton (authors) really started this segment of collecting in the hobby. Also a copy of Breen's Encyclopedia is worth getting just for the sheer number of coins, photos and the descriptions alone. They can still be found for $40-75 per copy if you look hard enough. Then there are so many specialist books as time goes on and you have a better idea of what you are collecting. Kevin Flynn has many great books on many series of coins as do Brian Greer, Bill Noyes, William Eckberg, Roger Cohen, David Lange, Rick Snow, Larry Briggs, John Wexler, Jeff Oxman, and John Roberts, just to name a few off the top of my head. Books can show you better than anything besides having a coin in hand. Read them, study them and learn! PCGS CoinFacts and Heritage Auctions (sign up for free accounts) for full access are also great tools. If you can't afford the books and your library doesn't have what you need consider joining the ANA. You can check out thousands of books just for the cost of postage, also see the Newman Numismatic Portal where many books have been legally scanned and put up in PDF format. Ask questions here at CCF that is how we all participate and learn from each other every day.

I don't have many quads, 2 I think, but a have a large selection of doubled dies and a few trippled dies as well. I have Classes I through VI and V-VIII and IX. I have them of varying strengths as well. I have some very strong C-I doubled dies like the 1972 FS-101. Pick a class and I'll post.

Those quadrupled dies are pretty neat, I've seen and had a couple TDO but I don't think I've ever looked for a QDP! Very cool, even us old timers learns stuff here, and that's what I love about the CCF!
