Sweeet! One small word of caution is that you should always flatten the staples on your 2x2s so that they don't inadvertently scratch adjacent coins.

STUNNED! Wow...just....well...WOW!

I would consider a shadow box for the contents with a picture or three of your relatives.

The California piece is Not a genuine example , one of the tourist pieces sold in the 1950s and on .
A little online research will show you what to look for in a real Cal Fractional gold.
Neat lot of coins and family history you found!

I appreciate the kind words and feedback from everyone!

@Spence I do clamp down the staples with pliers. Maybe they don't look it in the pics, but they are flattened.

@Pacificoin I appreciate the feedback on the California token. Very much a piece out of my area of expertise.

What did the 1886 nickel look like? That's one of the keys to the set.

Your so lucky. In many instances people throw out such stuff without looking it all over. Nice going.

@Conder101 thanks for the heads up, another series I don't know much about since it started in 1883 and not 1882. Haha Cool the one my ancestor kept is a key regardless of condition.

Ag/G Environmental Damage is what I think I'd get if I submitted her. I do think sitting in that pouch for the last several decades help acheive the ED. It took several generations of unknowing ignorance to get this far!

Ww - what a great story & thanks for sharing this with all of us! Also, you might want to try giving the 1886 a dip in acetone to see if some of the green gunk (and or black) would come off. Acetone cannot hurt the metal of the coin and totally evaporates off if you use pure acetone ( Walmart health and beauty aids section ~2.00 a bottle). It also might be a good idea to do with the 20 cent piece as well. I do it with any coin I know has been circulated to get off stuff that later might surprise me if I store it and don't look at it for awhile.
