I can't physically attend the Stack's & Bowers auction since it's been canceled at the Baltimore Whitman Show.
But I can sure make bids online since they are holding the auction in California.
So if I win I'll be continuing my spending ways.

Almost all major events are pushed to a later date or postponed, so I can't spend money even if I wanted, once this craziness get fix, hopefully everyone daily routine goes back the way it were.

well today we had a 60% layoff and those remaining were told to work from home. I'm OK for now but the near future looks pretty grim. For me that pretty much closes the lid on coin collecting - and many other things I took for granted as I am nearing retirement.
I wish all collectors good luck and I'm sure some really good deals will show up in the near future...

This could be almost for sure as true, but according to the mails from the dealers, majority of them will work "as per appointment" mode and online, so not sure, if they will be able to offer discounts to attract the buyers. so far my employment is safe, but good luck on finding a deal as most dealers/sellers have closed their doors / waiting out the storm.
I fear for the hobby as this is situation (might be) serious enough (real or not) that people clue in to what is really important... and little circular discs of over priced metal just might not make the cut.
I will be looking to silver and gold, and maybe some airline stocks, as an investment over coins...
But at the end of days we aren't taking anything with us...

No. The economy was amazing going into this hyped up mess. Overall more people were in better shape than they had been with their money for a long time. When the initial panic is over I believe things will not only get back to what they were, but probably be better overall. If the plans Washington is trying to get passed eight now kick in as they say they will, I think things will be better a lot faster. What I cannot understand is how in the world mankind ever existed all those years with no Walmart to buy TP from...its a miracle we survived. |

I just laid off 80 employees, and my coin collecting is also done for the foreseeable future.

I am trying to cut back on my coin spending but it has nothing to do with the current medical situation. I've been trying hard to whittle down my debt problem for about a half-year now. I'm still buying all the new stuff I 'need' from the US and Canadian mints (which alone is a dumb idea), but I've not looking much now for the few circulated coins (basically 1800's) to complete those sets.
