Not to be a "stickler" but I'm a "stickler". this thread starts about uncirculated or what, and then about not being uncirculated but "BU"
BU is "Brilliant Uncirculated"
And yes, technically everything in that box counts as uncirculated. None of it should be grading below MS, so it should be Mint State. AU (Almost Uncirculated/About Uncirculated) and below is "circulated", and will have signs of wear from trading hands and pockets. Dings and hits or even scratches from the first rolling machine will keep it from MS70, 0r MS67, Or MS65, even MS61 but will not put it in the AU category or lower unless so messed up it looks to be worn.
a rare exception is if the rolling company has some straggler circulated quarters that were left in the machine and mixed in with the BU coins, those would be circulated, the rest would still be uncirculated.
Circulated coins are coins that show wear because they have been used in commerce and circulated among the population, what you have are not that.
Congrats on your find, I hope you find some more in there! At least someone is able to hunt right now :)

Also would you guys keep 10 rolls unopened or just open them. It seems like to me there will be no more than 5 in this box. It is looking like 1 W every 10 rolls. I think they do this to make sure they get circulated to other parts of the US and not just dumped all at a few main banks and hoarded by the lucky ones who get those boxes which I think is a great idea. Everyone should have a chance to find one. Any suggestions will weigh heavily on my decision to keep any rolls unopened.

No, put me in the "open" column. I think you're doing great so far!

I would say that's a winner! Give them an acetone bath to remove any oils of grime. Are you planning on having any of them graded?

So just get a thing of acetone at the store then and give them a rinse? Do I just run them under water after the acetone bath or dry them off? New to coins and still learning would love any helpful tips. I have 2 that I might send in to get graded the others have some dings on them. Going through some of the rolls I was amazed at the condition of some of those coins for never being in circulation. They must handle them rough at the mints. I see now why highly graded coins sell so high they are very rare! Also was wondering what you thought about me holding onto the box of uncirculated quarters and just putting them away for later? Just wondering because who knows what the print runs will be this year with everything going on or should I just not waste my time and return them to the bank or sell them as 3 roll lots of BU 2020P Wier Farm quarters on ebay. Of course on ebay I will mention that they are searched for Ws not to give anyone the wrong impression that they might find one in there. Just let me know. Thanks Chris

Thanks Chris I submerge the coins in a little container of acetone. I use saturated Qtips to gently wipe the surface of both sides. 'VERY" gently, don't rub hard. If you rinse, rinse with distilled water. Dab them dry with a soft cotton towel. Keep them, sell them it's your choice. I throw them all back. Them "MINTED" hundreds of millions of them. If you don't develop your grading skills and can't find ones that will grade MS69 or MS70, I'd say forget it.

You do realize the U in BU stands for uncirculated right? And they most certainly ARE uncirculated if they havent come out of the rolls. Uncirculated is a condition not a state of being.

Yes I knew the U in BU stood for uncirculated. I have opened all the rolls now and found the W mint mark quarters and still have the other 1993 quarters back up and are wondering what to do with them. Probably just take them back to the bank or I could go through the tedious process of checking them all to see if any are in MS69 condition or higher.

If it were me I would keep 1 roll of P quarters then take the rest to my local coin club meeting. If you sell them at face value you will have lots of takers. Better than taking them back to the bank, I think.
I forgot that the mint was mixing the American Samoa W quarters with the P and D Weir Farm quarters. When I got 2 rolls of Weir Farm P quarters from the local grocery store there were 2 Weir Farm W quarters in them. I thought I was good. I guess I should go back and get more to hopefully get some American Samoa W quarters also.
