I have in the works to have one tested ( electron microscope tested) that will tell me the absolute properties in the coin. But they all have that brass color. It's very distinct.

I seriously doubt these are brass.

The pics don't do it any good service. It is just like my brass water bib. So that's what makes me think brass.

I have a friend at one of the local colleges. She said she would test it for me so I'm looking forward to having it checked. My problem is I have a handful of different yrs that all look the same. So I don't quite know what to think about that.

It's possible that the coin may have been cleaned. Harsh cleaning tends to make the coins tone a certain color.

I might possibly have been cleaned, but I'm not seeing any real signs of cleaning around the protected areas and the fields. The patiena all looks pretty much the same.

You cannot prove it is brass from the colour. SPP_Ottawa did a study of Canadian Colonial Tokens. You need to do an XRF.

I understand that. I was merely saying it looks a lot like the color brass. I agree the only way to know for sure is to have it tested.

There is no harm in testing. Who knows?

After reading the link provided by John1 and the link inside that one and the link inside that one...I'm more puzzled... Before all that reading I thought I had some, but now maybe I don't, or then again maybe I do...

Would a gravity test work for brass?

XRF will prove if brass or not,
but
potential value would not justify the investigation fee (unless you can have it done for free!)
