I'm on the scratch train as well, die state does not look to be old enough for a crack....IMO

I thought die cracks could go over the rim. See: http://goccf.com/t/312943It could be a scratch (bummer), but it didn't look like it since it affected the rim. |

Looks more like a lamination line to me . The part of it above the date meanders a bit too erratically dor a scratch. The part below Liberty seems to wrap over the rim and start across the edge. That would be very odd for a scratch.

The line above the date looks too irregular to be a scratch. If it's incuse, maybe it's a lamination line or some other planchet defect. If anything it probably has a negative effect on value, because it looks like a scratch.

A lamination line can travel basically straight across a coin and wrap over the rim and edge. This 56 of mine has the lam going in a basically linear line across the coin and wrapping over the rim and edge.  |

I'm all in for a Rim to Rim Die Crack. It will affect the sale/price of your coin for some people to answer your question. If your looking to sell there will be a buyer.

It is a lamination. Have your ever seen a die crack start to peel? Note the bust area below the 'Y' on Liberty.

I agree that it is the start of a nice LAM. I'm sure some LAM collector is dying to have one on a 1931 S if they are trying to make a type set.
