Pic attached below... According to Charlton there is an actual case known that was issued with a medal and a 1939 specimen dollar as a pair..any chance you've ever seen such a case? I'd love to find one..

I am pretty sure that either Sandy Campbell or the late Chuck Moore had a fitted case with the Specimen Dollar And the silver medallion . In the past have owned two Specimen Dollars in a case by themselves. Nice example of the little cardboard holder ! Sure shows you how cheap silver was back then !

It seems that there was chlorine in the original cardboard holder. That would explain the beautiful rainbow toning that you now see.

Interesting..must be Chuck Moore because I had recently brought it up to Sandy and to my surprise he said he's never seen one. I'd love to come across an example one day..must be super rare. The young collector I bought this from also had a 1939 dollar specially engraved on the day the royals were on London Ontario..there is so much cool stuff out there for 1939. I'm really interested in hearing more about the 1939 dollars in their own individual cases Jack! Any chance you have pictures or a recollection of what the cases looked like?

No pictures was a long time ago . The two I had were purchased from a coin dealer At Coinex 1985 in London England . He purchased them in Madrid Spain at a coin fair there . Best I recollect , Red leather covered boxes with a crest of Canada , blue plush interior .

Mine, also MS 67 - pictures in true view PCGS 39327972 - is one of the 3 at that grade. I would love to see any of the two graded higher. Note that I bought this coin about two years ago on a public web-based auction after very little battle. Although spectacular, there are not many collectors willing to spend a lot on exonumia. Some other interesting pieces are on my showcase: https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/co...aterial/7604 Only very few of my pieces are there. Soon to be uploaded is the 3-coins set of the 1964 Charlottetown medals (plus the gold 3:ducats of the same design issued for the Germany visit) (Edits: corrected hyperlink)
