I have heard that Etsy prices are a way to launder money.

Just message the seller and ask him how many of those 1944 pennies would he like to buy for 3˘ apiece .

It has no mint mark; It is Double Dyed; & it has Scratches & Gouges on the Obverse.

No mint mark - meaning that no mint made it = rare!
Doubled Dyed - Pre cursor to the '60's Tie Dyed = Forward thinking for that era = RARE!
Scratches - well - it has some = almost rare

The seller states that he does not buy coins. I'm assuming that he gets them from the mint that has no mark

His listings are unbelievable. He says proudly "I have had a passionate interest in Coins since I was young & this interest continues as well as the drive to keep learning".

Maybe he should join Coin Community Forum to learn a bit more about the real value of coins and how to recognise errors!

To quote Dilbert's boss: "There's no law against optimism". And I think we all agree, that's a pretty optimistic ask price.

On top of the price tag, you have to pay the shipping! If I'm paying that much the least you could do is ship it to me for free!

Etsy keeps nagging me to be an affiliate for them. They want to pay me to send clicks to their coin listings. I keep telling them no and why.

The same could be said of any online marketplace.

Careful we came to close to you getting that wish back in the 60's when legislation was proposed to make it illegal to sell any coin for more than it's face value.

Part of me wants to laugh when I see stuff like this...the other part of me just rolls my eyes and wonders what this world's coming to.

Within a few extra clicks, I found this one also on Etsy:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/109266...ated-1&frs=1
"ZOMG IT HAS NO MINTMARK IT MUST BE AN ERROR!"

And here's another 1944 cent from the same seller as the other link I posted:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/110659...ated-2&frs=1

Do people actually think people are going to fork over thousands of dollars for these, or what?

I would love to ask sellers like this two questions:

1) What sort of person is going to spend a large sum of money on a coin?

2) What sort of person is most likely to know the true value of a coin?

That's just another day on Etsy haha.

Coins are so overpriced it's an actual joke.

On the plus side, does it make the folks on The Coin Vault seem fair and reasonable, by comparison?
