Mine is on the way. It is pricey but also a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I'm considering buying one of these. It would be nice to know if they were actually going to stick with the "one per household" rule. The mint brochure I got in the mail says they will be reviewing that policy weekly & could lift the restriction at any time. The price is more than I like to spend, but I would buy one if I knew they were going to keep the restriction in place.

I would love to get an Ultra High Relief Eagle, but I'm afraid I cannot afford one right now.

2009Double eagle may cost less later ?Under the new method, the Mint will review metal prices on a weekly basis and reprice gold and platinum coins at 10 a.m. EST each Thursday when necessary. Prices will be based on a five-day average of the a.m. and p.m. prices fixes for the metals on the London market for the preceding Thursday to Wednesday period.[/url]

Quote: That kind of money is not really in my budget right now. If it were, there are some Lincoln Cents that I would rather have. I like how you think!

It's definitely a nice coin, but if I'm going to buy an ounce of gold, I'd rather have a Mexican 50 Pesos or on of the old style gold Libertads. In my humble opinion, the old style Libertads are the most beautiful coins in the world

I bought one. But if the secondary market is hot by the time I receive it I'll sell it to finance a 16D merc for my set.

Oh, boy! A good day for me! I'm gonna buy one. I just checked out the three $1000 Series EE bonds my mother left to me. They have matured beyond their final date. They're either paying zero or 1.3%. My wife (bless her) just gave me permission to cash them in and buy coins. I will buy one of these Ultra High double eagles and I'll sink the rest into silver coins. I'll be able to complete my Franklin's and will probably work on the Walking Liberty halves. I have to restrain myself at the coin show in April. What are the best things I can get for appreciation? Any recommendations?

Sadly......I'm with those who can't afford it now.... I SOOOOO wish that I could..... but I have "other" pressing issues that have to be dealt with for some time to come. $1,200.00 cannot be spared !......I've only allowed for much smaller purchases such as Silver Proof Sets, the new Linclon Silver Proof, possibly an auction or two this summer for some low to average priced Classic coins, etc. etc. ......I hate it that I can't get one of these, ... ... but it's just not in the cards for me this year at all....... way too pricey !
