I would say the first one is VG and the others in that VF30-XF40 range. I am not the best grader in the world, but that is my take.

Nice coins , something about Morgans , I collect them now too and never thought I would , just takes one to get the ball rolling , those are nice.
A premier coin up there with the British crown and Canadian maple for sheer "feel it in your hand" worth.

Just wondering- what do "VG" and "VF30-XF40 range" mean? Sorry, you can tell I'm new at this.

It is the condition. VF30 is choice very fine and XF means extra fine VG means very good

I would have some others give their thoughts on condition. I am far from an expert. That 1879 CC is worth a few hundred dollars for sure.

Hello & Welcome, I'm new to about aweek now. I'm trying to learn to grade these Beautiful pieces of American History myself. I feel were in the same boat I just inherited quite a few myself. The members here are very helpful & knowledgeable on this subject & many others also. With that said, I'm going to try to put a grade on your coins. This will make for great practice.

I don't think there is a F10 grade. It is either VG10 or F12 or F15. F=Fine, VG=very good

Yea I must be way to easy on my grades of morgans. In lower grades...then a couple hundred is more likely based on ebay auctions.

Go over to ebay and search for your dates.... I know there is a G04 1879 CC that is professional grade for sell right now... I just looked.

Very nice coffee can!! I was bidding on an 1892 S Morgan in similar shape to your two and it went for close to $100. The 1879 CC is a nice find as well. I would easily guess $150. ebay is an excellent way to gauge your coins against like ones. Congratulations!

There's an important point to be made here.

Aw, here he goes again....

A coin's value is not what some list publishes or what some dealer asks - it's what that coin sells for in the real world, where people are actually spending money. For lesser grades, ebay is the place to look. For better coins, register at Heritage Auctions for access to their sale database to observe the results of thousands of auctions.

I agree 100%. All prices are negotiable.

Remember...it's a simple rule no matter what you are selling...it's only worth what somebody else is willing to give you for it. That being said, do your homework and decide how much or how little you are willing to take for it and begin your negotiations! Enjoy and good luck!

Man!! I wish I could find a cool coffee can like that! Those are nice circulated Morgans! I agree with getting a collector book for your Morgans and finding out what you have. the book also (usually) list the mintage in the back and the entire history of the coin in the front. VERY interesting and it puts the whole thing in perspective. (I use Dansco collector books, personally). ebay has many sellers offering coin collecting books for good prices. ebay also can let you peruse other's coins and see where yours fit in as far as grade and condition. Congratulations on your find!!
