Looks MS but now I am curious if it is a matte proof

Not a thing for 3CN.

As for the grade MS-63 for me. Much too hairlined.
Rest in Peace

Grape, thank you for educating me that this series doesn't come in matte proof. I was confused by the OP's title which he should clearly know if it is graded PF or MS as designated on the slab. I did go to ebay to look at some proof examples and they look horrendous. Proof coins with mushy lack of details. Glad I dont collect this series other than a few clashed examples for my type sets.

I'll say MS-63. That cheek really detracts.

Pristine, that is a nice example. Certainly much nicer than three different ones I saw on ebay.

I don't think this is the reveal--the subject of this post is an 1869 3 CN while the example Pristine2 just posted is from 1888. There is still time to guess this one. I am guessing MS(64).

Only one proof die was used this year. It wasn't shared with business strikes like in some of the other years, so not much of a question as to strike type. MS 64
