Looks like a canyoncity_coin purchase. I never trust these guys. The photos are boosted to heck.

I'd tentatively call it a 63, would bet it sold for $100+

Adam, it was from Auction Kings. Coinfrog mentioned it looking like 2 separate coins, but I do believe they are the same. I don't know how these guys enhance their photos. Do y'all have any recommendations on where to get solid Morgans that are what they say they are?

My first thought was Canyon City as well but the background is different.
It does appear to be the same coin but the seller's (shyster's) images are really juiced.
I would not bother sending this coin to be graded. If you want a graded example I would suggest returning this coin and looking for an MS64 or 65 PCGS or NGC graded example. You can search ebay for this criteria or find a B&M shop near you.

You paid $98 for a coin that would most likely grade MS63 and paying $35 to get the coin graded. Find a NGC or PCGS MS64 for under $110 or a MS 65 for under $200. There are 152 MS64 1882 S Morgan's listed on ebay. Go the auction route or make an offer on a BIN listing.

I am also having problems determining whether it's the same coin. There are marks in the obverse rim in the upper images at M and below 82 that do not appear in the lower images, and an obvious scratch across the viewer's-left wing on the reverse in the lower image that does not appear in the upper image. Did the seller specify that their coin pictured would be the one you would receive?

Y'all know what... it didn't say it was the exact coin in the listing. I'm starting to see the subtle differences in the 2 coins. Looks like I got burned again. Another lesson learned. Dang man.

I just read 5 negative feedbacks about Auction Kings this month from people not getting the exact coin. Such a rookie mistake by me.

I can't render a grade using the top pics. There is too much reflection and surfaces can't be observed properly. On the lower pics, a complete opposite where your lighting is not helping at all . I say, adjust your light or type of light, try different angles and grey background ( an inexpensive photo white box with led is awesome for pics) and lastly, but most importantly, stick with it and learn daily !!! We all love this hobby!

You say you own this coin. Please start over and give us one set of pics that you believe accurately represents it.

Thanks for the advice on how to take proper pics Admiral.

Coinfrog, I do own the coin, but I will have to learn how to take proper pics to represent the coin. I'll have to do some research on lighting, shadow box, etc to show y'all an accurate depiction.

Here's a link to an auctionkings listing that is about as blatant as it can get. An 1883-S Morgan listed as MS+++++. Clearly a low AU example even from the very tweaked images. This guy should be on the discouraged sellers list if not already...https://www.ebay.com/itm/255458464180

I believe auctionkings is the same guy that used juiced photos to sell PL and DMPL on ebay as far back at 2015. The guy went from a name like DMPLmorgan to Toliver James Rare Coins and now auctionkings.
