I think a star grade would indicate the coin has superior eye appeal (looks really really good).

A star(*) is a superior eye appeal designation used exclusively by NGC. Star coins are worth more points in NGC's registry and tend to sell for more money than a similarly graded coin without the designation. BTW, very nice Morgan

What is the opinion on this recieving a Star grade. My cost was @ $60. So is it worth sending her to NGC. Thanks for the compliments. She is starting to blush

Hi
Nice coin by the way. What's with this star stuff. Have all the grading co's changed their criteria again ? Eye appeal is already one of the factors used in determining the overall grade of any coin. At least it used to be. I keep seeing and hearing all kinds of weird things about the way coins are graded lately. I.E.: Obv. is a 63, rev. is a 64 so ? If any coin has say, an MS 69 obv. and it happens to have a MS 63 rev. then the coin is graded MS63 period. Are they now splitting grades based on ea. side of the coin ? I may have to post this as well as more at one of the grading forums.

To me the obverse is a no brainer 65, probably a 66. The hits on the reverse will limit it for sure, but I'm not sure by how much. The dark areas around the raised portions give me some concern as in a cleaning of some type, but the experts on that would have to chime in. Might I suggest you posting pictures in the grading forum for opinions. You will get much more exposure there. Edit: I can move this entire thread into that forum if you'd like instead of starting a completely new thread. Up to you.
