, yeah, with the above... Carson City did not exist until 1870. Everything about this "coin" screams fake/counterfeit to me also.

Indeed a counterfeit. It is preferable to destroy so nobody gets ripped off in the future.

I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

The Carson City mint began striking coins in 1870. While the first coins minted there were Seated dollars, they weren't backdated to 1842.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I was at an auction earlier this year and watched a "1848 CC" sell for over $400. The auctioneer suggested that it "may" be a fake.

Impossible to have a CC before 1870.

Not sure "counterfeit" is the right word as an 1842-CC never existed to begin with. It's a fantasy toy. Sorry about the potentially dubious intentions to look like something of value.
