I have had the same response that MSshilling has from the banks. They do not bring in new coins because they have more than enough to satisfy their commercial clients.
It is the courier services that distribute the coins to the banks so they are the ones that control the distribution of new coins. The banks cannot specify that they want new coins just that they need a new supply of coins. This is what I have been told by several banks in my area.
I have found the best places to get these coins are the establishments that use currency not cards. Example the bottle depot or Tim Hortons I have had the best luck.

Hmmm. My Bank brings them in weekly (RBC) and I'm told a roll of the LP toonies is waiting there for me. I'll post photos later if it comes to fruition.

Not at all. I like them much more than they appeared in photos.

Wow, I was expecting a very different result...
Maybe the picture/lighting / monitor settings are not displaying the correct colours?

No as I said before it's not painted.
The edge is dark like the faces of the ring.
The ring is magnetic so it likely plated steel like all toonies since '12.
Plated with what is as yet undisclosed.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Wasn't sure if these would be easily obtainable through circulation, so I ordered a handful from Colonial Acres. However in the meantime I found four in a roll of toonies.

Of course, you never would have those if you had not ordered the others.

Finally got mine in the mail today. Looks really nice. I plugged it into the Whitman 'toonie' folder Queen (obverse) up.
