So the closest I can get to the price in 1996 is 2003 at $325.00 value but he must have paid half the average buying price so $162.50 not even close to my first guess.

I agree with Panzaldi at F15 the light corrosion holds it back from the VF range. Wow a 1996 price huh? I'll go cherrypicked for $8.00 as a normal junk box coin and no variety mentioned when you scored it.

thanks to everyone who chimed in. it enjoyed reading all your thoughts. congrats to the winner. jpbone! your guess of $45 was spot on. shoot me an email with the address you want your prize mailed and ill get it on its way! i was curious if that was a good buy or not so I went into my library. I dont have any price guides from 1996 but I do have a blue book from 1995. F-12 was listed at $60 in that book. seems like it was a pretty good deal at the time. it was purchased at a pawn shop thats pretty close to where I live today. I actually plan on stopping back in there next week. maybe ill find something cool! i grade this coin EAC net 10. market 15 or so. I like this coin and think it has really nice eye appeal. I think the pits on the obverse are enough that the coin might details. that Cud on the back protected the letters enough that there is a faint hint of luster hiding there. have a good weekend everyone!

Jim, I'm pretty sure all the Red Books are either on the NNP or the Internet Archive, the 1995 one was a borrow only renew each hour, but at least it's there on line for free use.
