here is the coin I have decided to give to the winner. 1843 petite head large cent. probably wouldnt strait grade because of the reverse rim bumps but it will look great in a 7070.

i cant get it to VF. F15. decent planchet with a little but of corrosion in front of the profile/ some pock marks in the neck area and a small scratch on the eye. these early coppers can be a challenge for a number of reasons in this case weak strike
1996 price - $26

I'm impressed with the large Cud on the reverse. I'm not qualified at all to grade these, so using general coin knowledge I say F12 range. Thanks for the impromptu contest. I say you paid $24.

So the closest I can get to the price in 1996 is 2003 at $325.00 value but he must have paid half the average buying price so $162.50 not even close to my first guess.

I agree with Panzaldi at F15 the light corrosion holds it back from the VF range. Wow a 1996 price huh? I'll go cherrypicked for $8.00 as a normal junk box coin and no variety mentioned when you scored it.

Yeah! An impromptu contest! I'm not very good at grading but will throw in a guess of F15 and $20.
