Coin appears to have been flattened during circulation, this is not a result of die state or the mottos would be starting to merge with the rim - they are not. PMD

Altered surface. The flattening does not increase value as it is just damage to the coin. Just like having a blow out on your car doesn't increase the value of that tire. (just the opposite)

Thanks for the responses. It is a little puzzling that the rim seems undamaged by the dryer or whatever caused this. The FG is also flattened which seems strange since it is in between the memorial and rim.

I'm on board with early stage Dryer Coin. I've seen a few dozen very similar examples--various dates--over many years of searching.

Age, gravity and circulation reeks havoc on us all.... I wake up and feel flattened like this every morning.
Agree with coin Die Deterioration and circulation damage.
Still, to your point Hawaii, the damage seems uniformly consistent.

I'm in the Dryer Coin category.
(Hammered while sandwiched between leather seems to be a distinct possibility as well.)

HiHiHi: ijn1944. This it is the best of the December 2022.

Please summit here the formal scale of the Dryer evolution. Maybe I can summit for a new Dryer certification scale due to fact we see more end more. Will miss us the Dryer manufacture name but we can deal with.
