So let me get this right. You are saying that the mint did not produce any 1950 uncirculated mint sets?

The 66 is My favorite, When You show em, lol. I Love the Finishes on These I am talking about the 1965 THRU 1967 Sets, Very Sweet Special Sets Too...

I believe I could Clearly pick out the SMS's Finish over a Business Struck Coin... The Finish on these sets, IMO, is Quite Unique, Very Silky Smooth Looking ...Now take out Your Best Accented Hair Kennedy and Compare them, The AH Version is Super Sweet Looking, Mrs Approved Too....

About that Book, Sir , !!! Edited, That Soft 1965 Set, Not Everyone knows about That One, ... They made " Special Strike " Sets Also, Very, Very Rare....

thanks Mike,

(just how rare?)

They are all over ebay.. I have not seen a hard case for the 65 though.

I also see a few in the hard cases just like the 66 and 67, but with no box to keep it in. two sellers have statements that say:

Quote:
ITS A GENUINE SMS SPECIAL MINT SET PLASTIC HOLDER. THANKS
or
1965 US Special Mint Set genuine SMS mint set holder.

But neither state that they are ACTUAL SMS Sets in the hard case or even OGP.

The 2023 Red Book States, Under the Proof and Mint sets Topic, " 1964 Special Strikes " I am Sure, Your NOT speaking about These Sets, Sir...

It has a Follow up print which, and I quote, " In addition to the SMS coins dated 1965- 1967, there are other, Very similar pieces dated 1964. These coins are unlike ordinary Uncirculated and Proof coins made that year and have characteristics akin to the SMS pieces. Collectors generally refer to the 1964 pieces as SPECIAL STRIKES. All denominations are Very Rare, whether sold as single pieces or in Sets. It is Unknown Why these pieces are Rare ( whether sold as single pieces or in sets ), why they were Made, or how they left the Mint. "

Under this Follow up is a statement, which says, 1964 Special Strike coins, Cent through Half Dollar, Current Value $13,000.00 I am Not talking about the Special Mint Sets of the 1965-1967.....

Ah, ok, I thought you were implying that the '65 soft set was rare. I'm not nor was I talking abut the '64 the 64 is an unobtainable set unless you are filthy rich - like Rockefeller rich.

" the 64 is an unobtainable set " Unobtainable, There lies the 1964 Collectors Sets, or parts there of, I do Not Have in My Collections............

PS, I've always imagined/thought that working @ the U S Mints would offer some Benefit, Other than Making Coins, Seeing the Systems and the Usual. I wonder IF the Coins like these sets were made @ the Mints and Given to The Select Few..... Also, How Many more Coins, Medals, etc are in that Mix .... I have Not heard Anything about These sets since a Kid.......
