Quote: Anyone know if they are doing this for the proof coins as well?
Heck, I don't think there was any advance notification that they were doing it for the Unc 2023 coins! If they do it for the others it'll probably be a surprise.
No notification ahead of time. It was only the peace and not the morgan so if they were to do another directors strike perhaps a morgan proof or the reverse proof morgan and Peace dollars would help also with sales and collector interest. Personally I think they will not do any more director strikes this year but it was cool that they numbered them individually on the cards and a nice surprise to a few collectors who bought them mint direct. The grading is optional, its just that since you cant open the package first and it costs to grade, thats going to skyrocket the value of the few that do get graded due to the registry sets.
I got 3 on subscription of each coin, and I was about to open the two boxes but fortunately saw this thread first. Since I was already planning to send them in to PCGS to get graded, I went ahead and put both boxes in a bigger box and sent them in. I believe today is the day that they arrive for grading.
I never win things like this, but I am crossing my fingers. If I do end up scoring one of the 200, I will most certainly sell it and put the proceeds toward my "buy land and build my dream home" fund.

CCG, I am like You, Never do Well in these.... I hope You Do receive one, That would Be Sweet, Best Wishes, *( maybe TWO )...
Its too bad there are only 200 out of the total mintage so not many will find and again even less will keep it sealed and attempt to send it in as you did....
So yes, Good Luck...that would indeed be kinda like the coin version of a golden ticket above from willy wonka.
There is one piece of advice and that is...
You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.
I see that PCGS contacts you (if you get a Ventris) upon opening the submission to ask if you want to slab the CoA. My tracking shows delivery a couple days ago but my account does not yet have the order in process - nor have they contacted me yet. Fingers crossed that they reach out to me Monday!!!!
There has been many of these popping up on ebay now. Price keeps going up. Holding steady at $3500 on the last few. Some have gone above that from what I can tell. I was looking at the NGC packaging vs the PCGS packaging. The NGC is more appealing to my eyes.
Quote: I received my Morgan/Peace dollars from the Mint last week and before I was aware of the'Golden Ticket'. In any event, my box had no special ticket.
Do most buyers take the certification route knowing there's no golden ticket?
Unlikely as the actual odds are very low and still sellable without grading/encapsulation. However due to that those that do send it in sealed and get it are getting a nice payoff for their effort.
