in 2026, the United States Mint will issue redesigned circulating coins and offer "Best of the Mint" gold coins and silver medals. Here are the five candidates for their Best of Mint collection, featuring classic U.S. coin designs endorsed by numismatic experts and selected based on public input. This input was gathered through a survey, with the Mint reporting over 29,000 participants.
On Tuesday, Feb. 27, the five candidates were given a strong support by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC).

The five candidates include:

1916 Walking Liberty half dollar
1916 Standing Liberty quarter Dollar
1916 Mercury dime
1804 Silver Dollar (Class I Version)
1907 Saint-Gaudens High-Relief Double Eagle

And here are the candidate designs for the 2026 nickel and cent:
In 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its founding. To commemorate this milestone, as authorized by Public Law 116-330, the U.S. Mint will revamp its circulating coins for that year. Earlier this month, in preparation for the review stage, design candidates for the obverse sides of the Lincoln Cent and Jefferson nickel Semiquincentennial coins were unveiled by the U.S. Mint.

I cannot disagree with the 5 coins selected as "best of the mint" but we have had gold examples of 4/5ths of those coins in the past 15 years.

Would have liked to see other designs get their modern remake.

Sure, but I do look forward to getting much less expensive silver versions of the previous gold coins.

While the gold say they will 'Faithfully represent the original historic designs'.
'Feature their original dates of issue.' but 'Feature a semiquincentennial privy mark showcasing the Liberty Bell and the numerals "250.", the silver seem they will be different designs 'inspired by the historic coins'.

Quote:

The U.S. Mint also plans to offer companion silver medals to the five gold coins. These medals would showcase contemporary designs "inspired by each of the historic coins" and would also incorporate a semiquincentennial privy mark depicting the Liberty Bell and "250."

Also about the cent and nickel changes, apparently the mint did not want to modify the design due to costs so its just going to be the date modification as in the photo above, and looks like they are not going to use the privy mark options either.

The silver won't even be coins, they will be medals.

I have zero problems with that. I have a love for US Mint issued silver medals.

I really like a few a few of the designs. I'll pick up the set in Proof when available.
