Yes please do that as it helps us all learn. Also, welcome to CCF!

NGC calls this the 6th most commonly counterfeited U.S. coin.

I don't think you can go wrong getting NGC's opinion with this one, especially since you are on good terms with the dealer if there is a question on authenticity.

Good point Apcol258. I feel better in my decision to submit it now. It's worth the fee just to find out and gain some more experience. (Don't know my way around here yet. Not sure how to use the quote feature)

Don't know if it's counterfeit, but the 2-tone reverse almost looks like a severe cleaning around "In God We Trust". The scratches in the same area doesn't help either.

I would not be able to ID the middle east counterfeits from the 60s. The good news is that they were real gold.

Both the rims and color make me suspicious.

Coin is not genuine. Can't say I'm surprised. I beleive the dealer will be true to their word and accepts return. Can't contact them until tomorrow though...

Thanks for the update. Not surprising but it would sure fool me. Did the dealer check the composition?

Yeah, I haven't checked myself, but I'm quite confident the composition is correct. They are well established UK bullion dealers. I'm sure they checked the compostion is at least close to correct.
