Very interesting! I will need to add this to my list. I have several branches of German ancestry which came to Pennsylvania in the early to mid 1700s. This is from both my grandfathers.

Fascinating commems. I never heard of this medal and learned a good bit from reading about it. I'm hopeful from your introductory paragraph this thread represents the beginning of a new series with a focus on these types of medals. @jbuck .... pay attention to the reverse details commems shares, specifically: Quote: Dwight D. Eisenhower are positioned below and to the right of Einstein I'm willing to bet this is an Ike you don't currently have!

I have been building a list and would love to find something there. Quote: @jbuck .... pay attention to the reverse details commems shares... World War II was just a minor misunderstanding among friends! And who can even remember WWI? Yes, what is a few million people killed or wounded between friends?

Looking back, this proposal seems almost absurd.

I have lurked a few times, but have never felt and urge to chime in unless a CCF crossover post is involved. Quote: I do enjoy relaying a bit of US history with my posts, however.
