@ Donsiguaw - to CCF
Please post up a full coin image of this coin - both sides. That way we get a full perspective of what is going on with it.

@ Donsiguaw: I separated your coin from that old one for it to get better attention.

Can you please post up the mint that this quarter came from?

Interesting. Yes, please post full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. Would love to see the full context of what we're evaluating. Thanks.

Staining on the coin surface. Looks like a pattern from something has been transferred to the coin.

I tried to include as many pictures as I could as.I am stuck with the stupid phone camera until my new USB.Microscope Arrives in a few days

There are spots that appear smooth and some of the pictures. Those areas are just clean comparatively. If you angle the coin you can see there is definitely impressions of the pattern which is. I'm guessing how it escaped the mint. As the clean spots and it's hard to see period

I do have.
Some good video of it with my last USB microscope. Before the kid broke it if I can figure out how to post that

You can feel the The pattern as you run your finger across the coin.
And if I can post a video with the USB microscope, you will see. It is invented into the coin. It is impressed into the coin.

Acidic contaminants can certainly etch metal. It would seem unusual for a piece of cloth that size to enter the striking chamber and lay that smoothly over the planchet. Perhaps when your microscope arrives, it will be easier to see what's going on.

I think you could get a better picture with your phone if you used the book stacking technique from the Coin Photography forum.

I agree about the photos. Your last pics are 80% blue background. Please crop your photos.

@Donsiguaw As above, better pictures required.
Agree with Errers and Varietys:

Unfortunately, your coin isn't an error. It's been stained. It's PMD and only worth face value.

I have seen coins and other items with a pattern like this that was caused by a rubberized drawer liner. It looks like the coins were stained with the pattern by some chemical or oily substance in the material.

Here's an example of the kind of liner material I'm referring to.

to the CCF I'm thinking this is just a little etching of the surface. If it was struck through cloth, it would be more into the coin.
