I think mintage limits are rather arbitrary. If demand is or isn't there, a shortage of planchets, whatever.

Quote: They raised the mintage limit to 271,520. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where the car rental company had his reservation but didnt have his car. Jerry: "But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation." Agent: "I know why we have reservations." Jerry: "I don't think you do... See you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation." The mint is good at setting limits, just doesn't know how to hold the limit. Oh, well, my order is due in November, better late than never. PS: I wonder how, or if, that little bump in mintage will affect the secondary market. Hope it takes the edge off.

Excellent, Dearborn! They are selling for a minimum of $320 on the bay.

I like the set, but I still don't see what the Gettysburg Address has to do with the founding of the country.
You'd think they would have chosen another topic about the creation of the nation, not something that happened 87 years later.
At least the new designs are better than the originals—some of those were hideous.

Quotes: Why Gettysburg is FeaturedTying the Eras Together: While the other four 2026 quarters celebrate the colonial founding (Mayflower Compact, Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, and U.S. Constitution), the Gettysburg quarter connects the origins of the nation to its ultimate test.
Defining the "New Nation": The coin's reverse features the quote "A New Nation Conceived in Liberty". This passage from the Gettysburg Address honors the Union soldiers who fought to ensure that the ideals of the Declaration of Independence survived.
