That's a beautiful piece Prethen. I much prefer the 3-cent nickel over the silver trime. Maybe they'll bring it back someday?

Coin Values Online, which is usually higher than others but not always, lists it for $1000.

The PCGS website lists a CAM for $700 and a DCAM for $1500, and Numismedia, the official NGC price guide, lists it for $660.

This is a good example of what is so great(& terrible) about digital photography. With the right lighting angle something that is either not visible, or very insignificant, will show up as a major flaw.

I hope that those aspiring numismatic photographers and Proof coin buyers can learn something by this. Again, I don't regret buying the coin. But, it took me by quite surprise that those hairlines were that obvious when tilted just right. And, you can see that if the light doesn't hit the surface at just the right angle, you really don't see anything there!

It's an awesome coin even with the slight hairlines. I have yet to photograph a perfect coin.

Glad to see you are still acquiring I don't think I have ever seen a 66! I told you that no one else is allowed to take photos of their coins that make them look worse than in hand other than me!
