Before you "authenticate", take it into your local coin shop & get their opinion before you waste your money. It'll be an expensive lesson if you don't.

Yes, there are other differences between small date and large date.
Please open and read the descriptions as well as review the images and compare to your coin:

You have the coin in hand... we're basing our comments on your image.
Best of luck if you decide to submit.

Large Date - would happily eat my words if it comes back from a TPG as a Small
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

@Robertwood, There are plenty of experts on this site all telling you the same thing, that your coin is a large date. Looking at the comparison images provided by IGWT79, even Ray Charles could tell the difference. If you are going to insist that your coin is a small date you are going to be disappointed and learn a costly lesson should you submit it to a TPG.

It's a normal Large Date cent. It's a spender. You already got your answer. It's time to move on.

I agree with above here, no doubt, positively a large date. Study the added information in the above replies again, and again if necessary.

The two is obviously the same as the small date.

The 2 is close to the rim - Large Date.

Side by side comparison definitively shows that it's a large date.

There is no mistaking the distance from the rim. The shape of the 2 can look a little different due to wear or damage, but the distance to the rim remains the same. This is a large date, no question. If you insist on sending it for authentication, at least send it to ANACS instead of NGC or PCGS, you won't be out so much money that way.
