Driving the coin to me seems less than productive and expensive. If you want to get a true stamp of authenticity and shut me up (I'd gladly eat crow), submit to any of the verification services, post the process and results. I think a coin of this rarity and condition would serve to support that expense. Otherwise, call me a skeptical cynic of your 1988 LMC FS-901. I look forward to your verification efforts. NYI

I'm outside Philly these days and quite wrongly assumed you were near NYC. HOWEVER, I had planned on submitting this to a TPG anyway, and I'm glad we're of the same mind in that regard. I don't think it's really in that great of shape but authentication could only help.

Typically, if someone throws down the gauntlet, they offer to pay for the TPG fees if it comes back as the OP has stated. ADDED. pound_foolish, if "someone" offers to do this and it doesn't come back as an authentic FS-901 (RDV-006), I will pay your fees.

Quote: Now that's silly! Not surprised by this comment and somewhat expected it or no reply at all. The old adage, "put your money where your mouth is", says a lot. I know for sure where you stand now NY, shame.... pound_foolish, my offer still stands with a stipulation, even though we have weakness on the other side.... I will pay for the TPG services if it does not come back as we have previously stated, but you need to send it to one of the big three, Wexler, cc or VV and get a letter from them stating it is what it is, to send along with the coin to the TPG. The TPG's are just not what they used to be, or maybe never were....

A good idea. I have a few other cents to send over to Dr. Wiles.

A quick update. Wiles has this coin as RDV-006. The other coin I submitted will be for another thread (and loops back to a post I made here at least 5 years ago!). Now to send off to a TPG, which I expect might take some time.

Congratulations on the find! I appreciate you following up with the VV verification of 1988 RDV 006 from Dr Wiles.

NYI - I'm a scientist and a skeptic by extension. In life I've been wrong way more times than I've been right so I take no umbrage with doubt. Sometimes it's what gives impetus to further study, and I fully appreciate your angle! It's a necessary part of the rigor process.
Though I wish it had been an 88 DENVER, I'll keep on searching despite what seems to be a preponderance of brand new 2024 P boxes at my local banks.
