I'm viewing this on my phone, but it looks like some rub on the cap and slight rub on the wing tips. If I'm seeing that correctly, then maybe AU58.

Curious what the experts have to say?

Please @Odee13 preview your pictures before posting so you don't have people wasting their time and opinions on one set of pictures then adding more detailed pictures that can easily change grade opinions!

Well let's say not 60 - 60's are pretty "chewed" up.

Good point and thanks for the comparison Marve. Based on the graded coin images you provided, this one could definitely be up there. I need to learn how to get the luster to show in the pictures I take.

lighting glare is obscuring the surface a lot. the 97(P) are know for sharp strikes so this comes in as average for the year. this coin has some issues on the obv. the cheek and neck is pretty beat up and some pretty good marks in the left field. also broken luster. there are a couple carbon spots on reverse

grade wise, high end MS62 and based on your last obv photo she looks like she was dipped but it could just be the photo as the first obv doesn't look like it was.

The 1897 Morgan is an enigma: low mintage, high survival rate, decent strike, gun metal gray appearance on most, and thanks to 1897 being Lavere Redfield's birth year and the only date he specifically selected to hoard lots of them have peach juice stain spots.

If you haven't done it yet, I'd definitely suggest you check VAM on this coin. I see the angled die crack between the "E" of ONE and the "D" of Dollar, the E-W die scratches inside the bow, the date position, and I think I can make out the doubling on the cap and a couple of the stars. You may very well have 1897 VAM-8, a "Hot 50" Morgan, with doubled stars and cap. That one's a bit of a toughie to find, and is in demand.

As for grade, it looks like an easy bourse floor 63. The chatter doesn't distract too much, and the only deeper scratch is the short one in front of the nose. IMHO, it is an UNC and would make MS-63. Nice coin.

MS-62. Too much chatter for a 63.
