The Chinese fear factor has prevented me from really getting some coins or upgrading some of my sets. I've never been a fan of slabs but I guess now that's the way of numismatics. Wait a minute-weve got fake coins in fake slabs now too. AAAGHHH

Great coin - what did PCGS grade it?

Nice pick up Nelrak! I peeked on ebay and saw it. Did you buy in his store? The BIN price was not bad at all for that coin. Great coin and great long term investment.

Beautiful toning. What did it grade? Mine was an AU-53 in a PCGS slab, but it was brown. Really took courage to pull the trigger on that much cash outlay - at least for me. Congrats.

Fantastic coin Nelrak! Does that complete the set? Its certainly a great addition to any set of Lincoln's.
What part of the Blue Grass State is home?

I'd love to have one of these myself! Maybe if I win the lottery.

Nelrak,
First of all a stunning coin!
I did not see this wherever it was for sale (ebay?) so I want to take a stab at the grade. Is it a 65? Toning can be deceiving and hide little imperfections, but I just don't see anything wrong with that coin. Gorgeous!

Quote: I peeked on ebay and saw it. Did you buy in his store? I didn't see it on ebay, I found it on a website where it was listed. Quote: Maybe if I win the lottery. Ya that's what I thought, but since my 401k was stinking so bad, I took a loan from it (paying myself guaranteed interest) and decided to buy some nice quality coins rather than letting Wall Street lose my money, at least I have something I like and I can look at the pictures when I want and KNOW it's in my safe deposit box in the bank and it's MINE! Quote: Beautiful toning. What did it grade? MS65RB, which I think was conservative. Quote: Does that complete the set? Not even close to finishing it, though I am considering building one. I love type coins and I really would like to have a nice type small cent set, so I am thinking about trying to find a really nice Flying Eagle cent next, since I already have the 1859 in MS62, 1860 in MS64, 1883 in PR66BN, 1909 in MS65, 1909 Matte PR65RB, etc. and this cent fills the bill for the VDB.

Congratulations Ken, that is a real beauty. It must be reassuring to know that PCGS has blessed it for grade, authenticity, and lack of artificial toning. I wonder whether that little carbon spot in the right obverse field kept it from the next grade. With all that eye appeal it looks close to 66 quality.
Ya done good!
