I never really thought about buying one but I saw this one and couldn't help myself. It's definitely a penny you only plan to buy once, I think it's pretty nice.

I'm a big fan of toning, I love the highlight on VDB and the S under 1909.
Almost makes a statement about itself shouting "This is what I am!"
Great coin, I don't own one but I don't blame you one bit for snatching up this one.
Nice!

Great pick up! Awesome color and surface fields! I had that on my "watching" list myself, knowing full well that I could never afford it, but liked looking at it!

Pretty nice? The waitress at lunch today was pretty nice, that cent is a beautiful work of art and a stunning piece of history!

Is it raw or in a slab? If raw, what steps did you take to be sure of authenticity and grade?

I always worry about this stuff when laying out the kind of money that these things go for. A beauty for sure!

Thanks everyone! Ya I think it is a great example of this coin.

It's slabbed by PCGS, I would never buy a coin over $500 that wasn't slabbed especailly the way China is starting to penetrate the coin market these days!
Rest in Peace

The Chinese fear factor has prevented me from really getting some coins or upgrading some of my sets. I've never been a fan of slabs but I guess now that's the way of numismatics. Wait a minute-weve got fake coins in fake slabs now too. AAAGHHH

Nice pick up Nelrak! I peeked on ebay and saw it. Did you buy in his store?

The BIN price was not bad at all for that coin. Great coin and great long term investment.

Beautiful toning. What did it grade? Mine was an AU-53 in a PCGS slab, but it was brown. Really took courage to pull the trigger on that much cash outlay - at least for me. Congrats.
