anyone know what I can buy for 12 cents?

That's what DC comic books cost when I was a kid. And those same books today, in cherry condition would be worth something (unknown to me) more today. Fire up that time machine with your 12¢ and head to 1966 (or thereabouts).

If the clerk gives you a had time about your 21st century coins, you can explain how Superman did a little time traveling and took you along.

I have no idea how this comic book didn't get thrown away, but I still have it. This is from 1969, so we see the inflation from 1966 with the 15¢ price.

We appear to be contemporaries, as I do recall the 12¢ price for comic books.

I had been thinking on this. The last time I saw a bubble gum machine it was two bits
/ 25 cents and don't even know if that's out there now.... I roll my own cigs and they are 9 cents apiece but would not suggest that if you don't already smoke, horrible habit.

-makecents-: Not to worry, never touched a ciggie in my life. Thanks!

At our local farmer's market, I think you could snag one string bean for 12 cents. If you are really good at negotiating, you might be able to land a cherry or a strawberry for 12 cents.

I was also a comic book collector; my favorite was the Sgt. Fury comic book. I had every issue from #1 to #46 (1963 - 1968). Military service call (US Navy - 68), my parents cleared out my room and threw the books into the trash!
