Quote: In the old days, a designer's initials were small and discrete. So here we have two different designers' initials on the obverse and one on the reverse, and all three are so big as to look like they're part of the design. That CAC on the obverse isn't the sticker people doing branding?

So if the proof cent is the same in the clad and silver proof set then what total mintage is the proof cent going to have? There are 420,000 (allegedly) clad sets - how many silver sets?

I'm signed up for 10 sets, and I'm probably going to keep that, though it is going on a credit card, interest free if paid within 6 months. I'll keep two, and attempt to flip the rest to pay for them. Neither of the two I keep will be cannibalized, they'll remain intact. I will buy the coins I want individually aftermarket. I'm a Mint Set collector, but 2026 will almost certainly END my collection. The insane price increase of 400%, FAR outstripping the increases to PM containing sets, killed it for me.

I planned on getting an uncirculated set and a proof set. But I feel we're being price gouged. There is no way an uncirculated set should cost that much. I've been out of the game for quite some time. I saw the new designs and I felt compelled to get some but the price was a turn off. I just can't justify the cost. I've seen rolls of the dimes P&D set on ebay for $60. Nope, not paying that for $10 in dimes. I feel the hobby will leave a lot of people behind.

Not getting it. Just getting the Unc set as the historic trend has been that despite often there being no mintage limit (again a few exceptions I believe the most recent being 2025), sales for these sets have been dropping. Sales for clad proof sets too have been dropping but not as fast. The mintage limit of 400,000 is a little higher than clad proof sales the past 10 years. So sticking with the Unc set rather than the proof set.
Tempted to get the silver proof set but at $245, seems just too high and when silver spot drops (as it has been doing very, very slowly from its $110 high) you will get it for a cheaper price. You may have to wait several years but so what. Neithe rhte clad nor silver proof sets are actually used in commerce with a small percentage dumped into circulation by heirs. Storage materials are generally better than the materials used decades ago so you have a recipe of a large population of high grade proofs with MS70 being at best a little scarce.
Unc sets are from coins that are used in circulation (mostly), more often dumped into circulation by heirs than proofs and the price is a bit obscene this year. This might equate to the Unc sets being a semi-key date.

I recently acquired one of the new dimes. The obverse is fantastic! Not a fan of the reverse, though. The eagle looks emaciated to me. It also has an angry look - maybe because it didn't have enough strength to hold onto the olive branch...
