I cracked out the 1972-S Silver Proof Now you can see it better without the case.

Looking good! I'm jealous!

Filling in nicely!
Honestly, trying to find nicer Ikes seems to be a bit of a challenge. Harder than I thought it was. Have you run into this trouble at all?

Some are not so good looking online. I try to find ones that list them individually as apposed to stock photos but sometimes you just have to take a chance. Mostly look for ones that aren't toned. Proofs are the harder ones to find since alot of the earlier ones in the cases all look hazy. I lucked out on that 72 proof, no haze.

Why do so many of the brown ikes show this film? I think it is because they are so common that they were hard to sell and back in the 1970's a great many of these coins traveled from show to show to show in the unairconditioned trunks of dealers cars (no minivans back then and most dealers just drove sedans and carried their coins in the trunk.) So those brown Ikes got baked time after time at 140 degree temperatures traveling from show to show. The high heat cause the plastic to break down and outgas with the fumes condensing on the coins.
