American Numismatic Society - Celebrating 250 Years of Independence: The Creation and Design of the ANS's Semiquincentennial Medal.
Alex Krapf (ANS First Vice President) will present the design for the ANS's Semiquincentennial Medal, which will be issued this year to celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. He will give a brief retrospective on earlier ANS medals before describing both the process and the challenges of issuing an art medal in modern times. He will leave plenty of time to discuss the state of medallic art in general and the medal design in particular.
