K. I understand it was a roll of 40% silver but that does not necessarily mean it was anything more than someone not knowing any better. As I stated before, contact the authorities if you do not feel it was a good transaction....

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I cannot tell if the picture is showing the area is sunk into the surface or not...and...it looks like silver solder like when people try to make jewelry with coins. The blob sticking up at the nottom of the S's top "loop" is sticking up like a blob of solder.
Again...could just be lighting. I cannot tell from the pics. Curious blob though - mabe a die chip in that area that also has the delamination peel off of it?

I will post some side on pics after work. See if I can get the edge clear. I looked on Errors-ref but they didn't have a photo for this. I might see if they want this one. I would think they would have a better example though.

Is the weight normal?
That area in question doesn't look oxidized like the rest of the coin.
This makes me think it was maybe a lamination after the strike or struck through foil the has come off.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

weight is good 11.47g side pics. Would there be that much design trasfer if the lamination fell off after the strike?   |

To me it does not look like a Lam or strike thru. have you tried to soak it in Acetone for awhile? ( and as always we need to consider the fact that we are assessing solely by looking at the picture rather having it in hand)

This is why I mentioned foil as a possibility. Most likely just a thin layer of 40% silver that was improperly mixed. The image showing ITED seems to show another piece that hasn't come off and it is almost touching the base of the "E" after curving up from the leaf at the bottom of the image and continuing to the ray nearest the left wing tip.
